Great photos here! When I went to Japan last year I brought a zoom and a prime for my Fujifilm. I didn’t end up using the zoom lens even once. I used my 35mm f/1.4 exclusively as a way to get to know the lens inside and out but also to allow me to photograph what I was truly seeing and like you said, try not to produce only bangers, because that’s not real life. There were times I’d wished I’d packed my zoom but they were not that often. I’m glad I shot only my prime, when I go back, I plan to do it again.
I basically did the same when I traveled to New York and brought only the 35mm f/1.4 with me! Honestly, I loved it so much, it was a really good exercise to get to know this lens better. Right now, I think the 23mm and 35mm are my favourite lenses. If I travel to Japan again, I’d probably just bring one of those two, because now that I’m reviewing all my images, guess what? The majority of my shots are within those focal lengths! Ahahaha
That’s such a relatable realization! It’s wild how much you learn about your own shooting style after reviewing a whole trip’s worth of photos.
That's amazing, when I look at the photos I take with my zoom, which is what i largely shoot with in the winter months because it's weather sealed, I also typically shoot in the 23-35mm range. Sometimes I get up to 55mm but it depends on the setting, typically I'm indoors for that focal length.
